Artek and UPM ProFi

When I first came across “UPM ProFi” two years ago, in the Triennale museum of  Milan, there wasn’t something really captivating about it. Artek’s pavilion, in the middle of the gardens, was built out of these bricks, made in a new composite material, recycled, water resistant (See the last picture on this entry, of one I still have on my [...]

Richard Ginori

During the hectic days of the “salone del mobile”, visiting the Richard Ginori exhibition at the Ex Ansaldo space, couldn’t be anything but a pleasure. This ample space, was offering the possibility to sit comfortably, have a healthy meal (not be taken for granted between all the panini and cotoletta kiosks, newly appeared during the [...]

Rotaliana

This beautiful lamp produced by Rotaliana recalls the warm feeling old chinese paper lanterns, even the delicate glow of a firefly. The choice of the material allows you to have it your garden, but not writing off the possibility of using it indoors.

360 Paper Water Bottle

Environ-mentally friendly world, this is the direction, a paper bottle, well, not just paper, it’s a sort of tetrapack. Anyway, it shows how people awareness is growing, and companies start to really care about the future generations. Designed by Brandimage, 2008

Moooi’s windows

A see trough maze, full of windows and corners was laid out for the exhibition. From the wallpapers to the carpets, the whole space was wrapped with the Moooi style. Full saturated colours, as the pink used for the ambience where Nika Zupanc’s Lolitas where starring.

Delft blue collection 2008

This is the result of the collaboration between Marcel Wanders and Royal Delft, for Moooi.

Fuori Salone

The very best of Milan’s furniture fair is what you see during the design week, outside the fairgrounds, the “Fuori salone”. Young designers looking for companies, new companies trying to become visible, and the really established companies doing their best to captivate the public. Post Mortem

This year the subject developed by the students from the “Design Academy of Eindhoven” was a difficult one, most of us fear death, but the tabu surrounding the “post mortem” situation was not an obstacle for Lee Edelkoort’s pupils, to get the best results. Images above: Bleeding Till Death by Hilde Koenders’s. Below “Coffin covers”, [...]

Open your mind

Kazuyo Komoda is the designer of “Lace Door” a beautiful close/open door. By means of a central pivoting element, “Lace door” allows the air circulation and opens a new window into the private/public use of the spaces. Shown at the “open your mind” exhibition, where 8 international designers who have worked on the meaning of [...]

Swarovski

No wander why The “Crystal Palace” every year gets more and more admiration, beyond chandeliers, what is shown in Swarovski’s installations are creations, spaces to transport us in a surreal and magic world.
